Unite Contracting is seeking a X-Ray Weld Tech Quality Control Inspector to join our team in Norco, Louisiana. QC inspector is responsible for ensuring all fabricated pipes and vessels meet established quality standards by performing thorough inspections throughout the production process, including material checks, dimensional verification, welding assessments, and documentation review, to identify and report any defects, ensuring the final product adheres to project specifications and customer requirements. Must be able to operate a PMI / XRF Analyzer Gun.
Inspection of materials: Verify incoming pipe materials against purchase orders and specifications, checking for size, thickness, and surface quality.
Dimensional checks: Use measuring tools like calipers, micrometers, and tape to ensure pipes meet precise dimensions and tolerances.
Welding inspection: Visually assess welds for defects like cracks, porosity, and improper penetration, utilizing non-destructive testing methods like magnetic particle inspection or ultrasonic testing when required.
Documentation review: Review fabrication drawings, cutting lists, and welding procedures to ensure compliance with project specifications.
Data recording and reporting: Document inspection findings on standardized forms, including detailed descriptions of defects and their locations, and report issues to production personnel for corrective action.
Process monitoring: Observe and monitor the fabrication process to identify potential quality issues and recommend adjustments to maintain consistency.
Calibration checks: Regularly verify the accuracy of inspection tools and equipment to ensure reliable data.
Non-conformance management: Investigate and document non-conforming products, initiate corrective actions, and implement necessary rework or rejection procedures.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Technical techniques and relevant industry standards (e.g., ASME, API).
Inspection skills: Proficiency in using various inspection tools and techniques for dimensional checks and weld assessments. Blueprint reading: Ability to interpret fabrication drawings and specifications accurately. Quality control principles: Familiarity with quality control methodologies and documentation practices. Attention to detail: A high focus is needed to identify even minor defects during inspections. Communication skills: Communication with production personnel, supervisors, and quality engineers to report issues and coordinate corrective actions.Work Environment:
Quality Control Inspector is primarily located on the shop floor in a manufacturing environment, often exposed to noise and potential hazards associated with pipe fabrication.
Quality Control Inspector will be working in various positions, including bending, crouching, and reaching to access different areas of pipes during inspections, may be required.

Your proficiency with precision measuring instruments like calipers and micrometers will be vital in identifying and resolving quality issues, ensuring the integrity of our fabrication processes.
